The Petition Objectives
The petition objectives are to use grassroots political activity to get California and federal leaders to change water policies to accommodate the needs of fish. Fish need water flows, proper water temperatures, clean water and sufficient flows for spawning and migration.
Specific Project Objectives
- Restore the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and its tributary rivers. Regulate flows to allow successful migration, screen all major diversions and pumps and install state of the art fish salvage at the state and federal pumping facilities.
- Remove 4 dams on the Klamath, cure the pollution and disease problems and restore adequate river flows and temperatures for successful two way migration.
- Raise public awareness about habitat destruction which is happening in many of our rivers. Encourage public participation in the ongoing efforts to save our rivers and the fish that depend on them.

Iron Gate Dam on the Klamath River is one of four dams that must be removed in order for the salmon runs to recover.
Fish Management Objectives
- Ask the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, The National Marine Fisheries Service, and the California Department of Fish and Game to tighten and rigidly enforce their permits, and requirements to better protect all fish but particularly the threatened and endangered species.
